Damstredet (1–11, 2–26[1]) er en smal og krokete gate i Oslo, bydel St. Hanshaugen.

Bygningene langs Damstredet er alle lave trehus, og stammer fra perioden 1810 til 1860. Det første huset, Solberg, nåværende adresse Damstredet 1, ble oppført i 1756 av billedhoggeren Ole Meyer. Nevøen hans, billedhoggeren Andreas Hansen Meyer, tok over huset i 1767, mens sønnen hans, Ole, også billedhugger, oppførte en ny bygning i 1838. Vennen hans, forfatter og poet Henrik Wergeland, da nygift, flyttet inn, og tilbrakte to av sine mest produktive år her, før han flyttet til Grotten i 1841. Solberg ble senere hjemmet til arkitekt Heinrich Ernst Schirmer, og senere generalmajor og forsvarsminister (1868–1872) Nils Christian Irgens.

Great Grandfather's Stabbur in Autumn

The "stabbur" of my great grandfather, finished 1920, is a beauty beyond compare. Originally it was ocher yellow with red tiles.

I really hate to tell it's not anymore part of a rural culture, but a sub-exurban culture. All of Norway has become a suburb of the USA!

This "stabbur" is the most beautiful building of all the "grenda" it's part of, representing a lost time and an unique rural culture.

Straight against it stands the new pumping house mocking her beauty, like a tombstone of a lost culture.

The sub-urbanization of the Norwegian countryside is a worse crime than chairman Mao's Culture Revolution in China!

I do now run the one man company PermaLiv AS. I appreciate very much a payment of 250 N.Kr for my images for volunteer organizations and 500 N.Kr for commercial use.

The shielding mound above my forest. I had to fight almost a whole year against a terrible bureaucracy to get it. They told me I had to engage a consultant company to study it, paying thousands of dollars.

But that they killed my creek, draining away the well from where it came up from the ground in the lower right corner of the image, was never an impact Assessment. And I never got an apology for this misdeed.

My mound became a big success!

I do here present four versions of the image that might be my best of Mr. Fossemøllens eyestone. I love the dramatic sky contrasting the white "våningshus", together with the apples on the ground.

The home of my great great grandfather Herman Evensen Fossemøllen shines again. His father Even Michelsen left for the USA in 1871, 73 years old. Nobody knows if he succeeded?

Helmer den yngre har pusset opp igjen våningshuset i Grythengen slik at det ble nesten like flott som under Helmer den eldre. Opprinnelig var det en staselig sveitservilla i tømmerplank, før det ble herpedert til en nitrist kvasifunkisvilla på femtitallet, hvoretter det nå har gjenvunnet sin verdighet i empiriestilen.
